Compliance Tests

Conformity assessment studies are the assessments made before a product is placed on the market. It is determined by a series of tests, measurements, analyzes and evaluations that a product is manufactured in compliance with all legal requirements and related standards. Consequently, it is a whole that covers conformity assessment, testing, inspection and certification processes.

A manufacturer can offer products to the market, especially in European Union countries, after meeting all relevant requirements. The European Union has prevented unsafe and non-compliant products from being offered to consumers.

The main factors of conformity assessment studies are:

  • The suitability of a product is assessed before it is placed on the market

  • The requirements of the current legal regulations must be fulfilled

  • Includes conformity assessment studies, testing, inspection and certification processes

  • Criteria and standards for each product are included in the relevant legislation.

In short, the purpose of conformity assessment is to prove that a product to be offered to consumers complies with the relevant legal requirements and to ensure the trust of consumers, government agencies and manufacturers.

Legal regulations include conformity assessment processes for products. The evaluation is carried out directly by the manufacturer.

However, if it is included in the relevant regulations, a neutral and independent conformity assessment body participates in the conformity assessment process. These organizations are called notified bodies. Consequently, the conformity assessment practice is complementary to market surveillance.

As part of the conformity assessment study, the manufacturer or its authorized representative must prepare a declaration of conformity. This declaration shall include information on the product description, the applicable legislation, the title of the manufacturer or its authorized representative, the notified body, if any, and, where appropriate, harmonized standards or other normative documents.

Compliance tests are conducted in advanced laboratories to ensure that the declaration of conformity is based on accurate data. These tests are largely proof of the manufacturer or its representative.

Conformity assessment studies are mainly based on inspection, testing and certification. Inspection is regular checks to ensure that the product meets certain criteria. Tests are the determination of one or more of the properties of a product in the laboratory. Certification is the provision of an independent and impartial written assurance document that the product in question meets certain requirements. This study is defined as a third party conformity assessment.
