Halogen Free Tests

Halogen-free cables are applied in sensitive areas such as public buildings, institutions or railway vehicles and in areas where the overall safety requirements for cables are very high. These cables are halogen-free as well as flame retardant, self-extinguishing and flame spread prevention.

Halogen Free Tests

Halogen-free cables are widely used in machine tools, assembly lines, production lines, conveying systems, rail technologies and control panels such as these.

Halogens are nonmetals that are prone to reaction. The electronegativity of these elements is high. In nature, they are generally in the form of minerals. In general, some elements known as dangerous and toxic are called halogen. These elements are chlorine, fluorine, bromine and iodine.

When a halogenated cable burns, the hydrochloride is released and combines with the gases in the air to form hydrochloric acid. This acid damages both health and environment. Therefore, halogen-free cables used in recent years have been effective in increasing security.

Halogen-free cables are known as flame retardant cables during fire. In the meantime, when burned, they do not emit dense fumes and emit toxic gases. In this way, they are extremely effective in increasing the safety of life in buildings.

Halogen-free cables are most commonly used in hospitals, schools, hotels, shopping malls, cinemas and theaters, subway and road tunnels, airplanes, airport terminal buildings, railways and public housing.

There are many tests in accordance with international standards to control the operation of cables in a non-hazardous manner. These tests are performed after the production of fire resistant cables and the behavior of the cables during a possible fire is examined.

The following are a few standards that are based on halogen free tests by competent authorities:

  • TS EN 60332-1 Electrical and optical fiber cable tests at risk of fire

  • TS EN 61034 Measurement of smoke density of burning cables under specified conditions

  • TS EN 60754-1 Cables - Test for gases released during combustion of electrical cables - Part 1: Determination of the amount of halogen acid gas

Our company also provides halogen free test services within the scope of electrical testing services. Thanks to these services, enterprises are able to produce more efficient, high performance and quality products in a safe, fast and uninterrupted manner.
Halogen free test services within the scope of electrical testing services are only one of the services provided by our organization in this respect. Many other electrical testing services are also available.
