ENEC Certificate

European Norms Electricity Certification (ENEC, European Norms Electrical Certification is a safety sign application that started to be implemented in European countries in 1992 and proves that electrical and electronic products are safe.

ENEC Certificate

The official basis for this practice is the following legal regulations adopted by the European Parliament and Council:

  • Regulation 765/2008 (marketing of products and requirements for accreditation and market surveillance)
  • Decision 768/2008 / EC (a common framework for the marketing of products)

Essentially the ENEC regulation was designed by the European normalization committee CENELEC (Comite Europeen de Normalization Eletrotechnique).

ENEC certificate is issued for electrical and electronic devices manufactured in accordance with European safety standards. This document is issued by authorized institutions. While European Union countries have their own national certification mark, the ENEC certificate is a certification mark covering all European countries. The ENEC mark is considered more valuable than the mandatory CE marking application based on a self-declaration, as it requires third-party independent and impartial body certification.

Products that are mainly covered by the ENEC certificate are:

  • Fixtures and related components
  • Safety transformers
  • Power supply units
  • Switches for household appliances
  • Information technology equipment
  • Automatic electrical controls
  • Household products
  • Fasteners, suppression capacitors and filters

When the ENEC certification program was first implemented, it only covered fixtures and components. However, today the scope of the ENEC brand has been expanded to include information technology and electrical business equipment. The ENEC certificate also includes production control processes that ensure the quality of the products.

The advantages of having an ENEC certificate for companies can be listed as follows:

  • Secure access to many markets in European countries and outside of Europe is provided with just one document.
  • Companies strengthen their brand image with products that are analyzed and followed from start to finish.
  • Compliance with the low voltage directive in force in the European Union countries is ensured.
  • Compliance with European safety standards is proven
  • The liability risks of manufacturing companies are minimized.
  • Companies benefit from short audit periods in terms of fast access to the market.
  • ENEC brand creates trust for the company
  • Assistance to official institutions conducting market surveillance

The ENEC program is a high-quality European marking system for electrical and electronic products that has been implemented for close to 30 years. An ENEC certificate proves that the product bearing this brand is in compliance with all relevant European safety standards. Unlike the CE marking system, which is a mandatory system that companies usually self-approve, the ENEC brand is a voluntary certificate issued only by authorized organizations that act independently and impartially. ENEC certification provides continuous quality assurance for products and production processes.

In short, the European Norms Electrical Certification (ENEC) regulates the certification of lamps, office equipment and components such as switches and cables. In order to obtain an ENEC certificate, products must comply with the current European standards. These include using a quality management system for production processes. Authorized certification bodies carry out regular audits at the manufacturer to ensure that the requirements of this system are met.

ENEC certification studies cover the following two conditions: Product type testing and acceptance of the manufacturing process.

  • In product type determination studies, the authorized institution first tests the electrical safety of a sample in accordance with the relevant European norms. During these tests, accessibility of parts with current, temperature control and mechanical strength tests are performed and protection against leakage current is evaluated. If the product is found in accordance with the relevant European norms, ENEC certificate is given.
  • In terms of acceptance of the manufacturing process, the manufacturer is required to perform a minimum set of routine tests defined for each product category. These tests also require products to be subjected to systematic quality controls throughout the entire production process. Meanwhile, the quality system of the company's production facilities must comply with the EN ISO 9001 standard.

For ENEC certification studies, a contract must be made between the manufacturer company and the certification body. If both the type test results and the production process evaluation of the production meet the necessary criteria, this contract must be made for the use of the ENEC brand. Within the scope of this contract, an agreement is made on issues such as the duration of the contract, market control, complaint procedures, costs and liability.

Our organization provides ENEC certification services within the framework of national and international standards, with a trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among countless testing, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies.

CERTIFICATION PROCESS

First Evaluation

First, it is determined whether the organization meets the mandatory requirements of the standard and whether to proceed to the next stage.

CERTIFICATION PROCESS

Preparation of Documents

It is checked whether necessary procedures and audits have been developed and your institution's readiness for evaluation is reviewed.

CERTIFICATION PROCESS

Issue of Document

The findings that arise in the first two stages are evaluated and after all corrective actions are reviewed, document preparation is started.
